Received a B.F.A. in 1949 from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Received an Honorary Doctorate
of Fine Arts from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Studied in Paris 1949–50. Spero has received many awards and prizes including a CAPS Fellowship from the New York State Council on the Arts, National Endowment for the Arts Grant, Skowhegan Medal for Works on Paper and the Hiroshima Art Prize (jointly with Leon Golub). |
