JAMES MESPLÉ (b. Nevada, Missouri, 1948)
Attended the University of Missouri, Northeastern Illinois University and the School of the Art Institute
of Chicago. Awards include two First Prize in Painting awards from the Hyde Park Art Center Members' Show,
an Honor Award for ten years of contributions to excellence in teaching art from the School of the Art Institute
of Chicago, an Illinois Alliance for Arts Education Service Award from the State of Illinois and a Chicago
Department of Cultural Affairs Community Arts Assistance Grant. Exhibitions include Museum of Contemporary
Art (Chicago), Rockford Art Museum, Illinois State Museum and Queens Museum (Flushing, NY).
