ELLEN LANYON (b. Chicago, Illinois, 1926)

Received a B.F.A. from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, and an M.F.A. from the University of Iowa.
Among Lanyon's grants and awards are a Florsheim Foundation Grant, four Yaddo Fellowships, two National
Endowment for the Arts Grants in Painting, a Logan Prize from the Art Institute of Chicago and an Artist's Grant
from the Cassandra Foundation. Lanyon's work is part of the permanent collections of many museums including
the Art Institute of Chicago, Museum of Contemporary Art (Chicago), Metropolitan Museum of Art, Museum of
Modern Art (New York), Walker Art Center, Milwaukee Art Museum and the Library of Congress.
