Received a B.S. in 1959 from the University of Wisconsin, and an M.F.A. from the University of Minnesota in 1964.
Among Haas' many awards are a Medal of Honor from the American Institute of Architects, National Endowment
for the Arts Fellowship, Guggenheim Fellowship and a Doris C. Freedman Award. Haas received an honorary Ph.D.
from the University of Wisconsin in 1991. Haas' work is part of the permanent collections of many museums including
the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Whitney Museum of American Art, Brooklyn Museum of Art and the Walker Art Center.
